“Peace in Palestine and Israel Portfolio”
Everence Trust Company has created a “Peace in Palestine and Israel Portfolio” that provides qualified investors with an investment option that is “monitored and regularly evaluated for exposure to companies on the current [American Friends Service Committee] divestment lists related to Israel and Palestine.” See the attached flyer or contact an Everence Advisor for more information.
For a recent reflection on boycott, divestment, and sanctions from Mennonite pastor James Rissler, following his return from a “Come and See” tour, read Praying for Peace in Israel-Palestine. And read Rachelle Friesen’s report on Mennonite Church Canada’s resolution supporting boycott and divestment, passed at their annual meeting earlier this month.
Help Support Mennonite Church USA Staff Position on Israel-Palestine
Former MennoPIN steering committee member Jonathan Brenneman is beginning a special one-year Mennonite Voluntary Service assignment, to support Mennonite Church USA members who are committed to educating, acting and prayer for peace in Israel-Palestine. Contact Jonathan via email if you would like to connect with him in your local area.
Mennonite Church USA welcomes contributions to support Jonathan’s work. Checks should be made to Mennonite Church USA, with “MVS Partners in Peacemaking” in the memo line and sent to 718 N. Main St., Newton, KS 67114-1703. Or go to http://mennoniteusa.org/give/, click on Donate to the Purposeful Plan, and at the box at the bottom designate your contribution for “MVS Partners in Peacemaking.”
Gaza: Take Action
This month marks two years since the devastating war in Gaza. Only 10 percent of homes destroyed in the war have been rebuilt, and Gazans continue to live under a suffocating blockade. Watch and share this short video, sign a petition online and send a message to your Member of Congress.
Reminder: Kairos Palestine Study Guide Available
If you are wondering how to talk about Israel-Palestine in your local congregation, check out our study guide on the Kairos Palestine document. Available for download as a PDF from our website or in print from MennoMedia for $5.
Prayer from ACT Palestine Forum
God of life, who cares for all of creation, and calls us to justice and peace, may our security not come from arms, but from respect. May our force not be of violence, but of love. May our wealth not be in money, but in sharing. May our path not be of ambition, but of justice. May our victory not be from vengeance, but in forgiveness. May our unity not be in the quest for power, but in vulnerable witness to do your will. –From ACT Palestine Forum
