Mennonite Twinning Initiative with Gaza

In faithful response to MC USA’s 2017 Seeking Peace in Israel Palestine resolution, MennoPIN is inviting Mennonite Church USA congregations to participate in the Mennonite Twinning Initiative with Gaza.

This initiative will match Mennonite congregations with churches, mosques, hospitals or schools in Gaza.

The objectives of the initiative are:

Relationships: Sharing congregational histories, profiles, letters, photos, videos, and other elements will help build understanding of each others’ circumstances and particular challenges in working for peace.

Praying: As people of faith, we strongly believe in the power of prayer as we seek the Spirit of God to give us strength and wisdom. Sharing prayer requests is an active part of relationship and communication.

Telling the Story:  Here in the U.S. we acknowledge the needs of the people of Gaza by telling their stories and sharing their suffering and the impact of the siege.

Channeling Gifts & Resources through Common Action Plans: Sharing art, music, writing and public speaking will advance peace and solidarity between Gaza and partner churches. Twinning does not focus on money. But joint plans of action may include financial support to further peace and alleviate suffering.

Educate and Discern: Participants commit to educating congregations and communities on unhelpful government policies towards Gaza and the impact of the continuing occupation and siege.

Communicate with Legislators: Participants will ask legislators to support helpful policies and change harmful ones, including an end to the siege and attacks on civilians and noncombatants.
